La Herradura

Very close to Almuñécar, in the direction of Málaga, is La Herradura. A fishing village with white and steep streets, located in the middle of a wide inlet.
The beaches of La Herradura de Granada are some of the best on the Costa Tropical. In its surroundings it has numerous facilities dedicated to tourism, hotels and restaurants.
In the extreme west, in the foothills of the Sierra de Almijara, Cerro Gordo is located.
This part of the coast was declared a Natural Area in 1989 and occupies some 400 hectares that are distributed between the provinces of Granada and Malaga.

From the viewpoint of the tower-lookout of Cerro Gordo you get fantastic views of the coast: to the east, the beach of La Herradura, and to the west, cliffs and steep profiles.

On the border with the province of Málaga is the Cantarriján beach, which is a nudist area.
